TorqAI Privacy Policy

TorqAI ("we", "our", "the app") is an AI-powered tennis coaching app developed by Tornatto Labs. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

• Account information: Name and email address from Google or Apple Sign-In.
• Tennis profile: Handedness, backhand style, NTRP level, gender, and coaching tone preference.
• Video recordings: Tennis clips (up to 5 minutes) you upload for coaching analysis.
• Video frames: Still images extracted from your video clips at regular intervals (up to 1 frame per second at reduced resolution) for AI analysis.
• Body pose data: Body joint positions (33 landmarks including shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles), joint angles, wrist velocity, and body rotation metrics extracted from your video on our server using MediaPipe (Google's on-device pose estimation library). This data analyzes body movement and racket technique only — it does not identify you.
• Chat messages: Text conversations between you and the AI coaching agent.
• Camera position: The camera angle you select when uploading a video (e.g., "behind", "front", "side").
• Progress data: Stroke ratings, session summaries, and player model observations.
• Analytics data: App usage events (e.g., screens viewed, features used), device model, OS version, and app version. This data is used to improve the app experience and is not shared with third-party AI services.
• Subscription data: Subscription tier and usage information. Payment is processed by Apple; we do not store payment details.

2. How We Use Your Data

• AI coaching analysis: Video frames and body pose data are sent to Google Gemini for stroke detection and technique analysis. Text-based coaching conversation and session summaries are processed by Anthropic Claude. See Section 4 below for full details.
• Progress tracking: Session data is stored to track your improvement over time.
• Personalization: Your tennis profile shapes the coaching experience (drill suggestions, feedback style, skill-appropriate advice).
• App improvement: Analytics data (usage events, device info) is used to improve the app experience. This data is not shared with third-party AI services.

3. Third-Party Services

• Supabase: Hosts our database, user authentication, and file storage (video frames, pose data).
• Google (Gemini API): Receives video frames and body pose data for stroke detection and analysis. See Section 4.
• Anthropic (Claude API): Receives chat messages and text-based analysis results for coaching conversation and session summaries. See Section 4.
• Google / Apple: Provides sign-in authentication. Apple also processes in-app subscription payments.
• Expo: Delivers push notifications (device token only; no personal data).

We do not sell your data to any third party. Data shared with third-party services is used solely to provide the app's functionality.

4. AI Service Providers

TorqAI uses third-party AI services to analyze your tennis strokes and provide coaching feedback. Below is a detailed breakdown of what data is shared with each provider, how it is used, and how long it is retained.

Google (Gemini API)

• Data shared: (1) Video frames — still images extracted from your tennis clips at up to 1 frame per second at reduced resolution; (2) Body pose data — body joint positions (33 landmarks), joint angles, wrist velocity, and body rotation metrics; (3) Camera position selection; (4) Tennis profile (handedness, skill level, backhand style).
• Purpose: Stroke detection (identifying when strokes occur in your video), stroke classification (forehand, backhand, serve, etc.), and technique analysis with coaching feedback.
• Retention: Data is retained for up to 55 days for safety monitoring, then permanently deleted.
• Training: Your data is NOT used to train Google's AI models (paid API tier).

Anthropic (Claude API)

• Data shared: (1) Chat messages you send to the coaching assistant; (2) Text-based stroke analysis results (generated by Google Gemini — not your raw video or images); (3) Tennis profile (handedness, skill level, backhand style).
• Purpose: Personalized coaching conversation, drill suggestions, progress observations, and session summaries.
• Retention: Data is retained for up to 30 days for safety monitoring, then permanently deleted.
• Training: Your data is NOT used to train Anthropic's AI models.

Important: No facial recognition, biometric identification, or user re-identification is performed by any AI service or by TorqAI. Body pose data analyzes body movement and racket technique only — it does not identify you. Your videos and images are never shared with Anthropic; only text-based analysis results are sent.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase's cloud infrastructure. Video frames are stored in a secure storage bucket. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings > Delete Account in the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent. You can also email us at the address below to request deletion.

7. Beta Waitlist

If you sign up for our beta waitlist, we collect:

• Email address: To send you beta testing invitations and updates.
• Device platform: Your preferred platform (iOS or Android) to prioritize invites.
• IP address and browser info: Collected automatically for spam prevention.

Waitlist data is stored in our Supabase database and used solely for beta program communications. We will not share your email with third parties. You can request removal from the waitlist at any time by emailing us at the address below.

8. Children's Privacy

TorqAI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
